The local agricultural fair holds a contest every year for the best photo taken at previous years of the fair. It's a pretty decent pay out for the winner. This is to be my entry.

I've done some pretty heavy PP on it, and I'm looking for critique on the processing more than the image itself. I think I overdid it but the background was so distracting.

Opinions appreciated.

Definitely a bit heavy on the gaussian blur, but not sure there was much else you could do. Let us know how you do! Good luck!

Yeah. You over did it.

Maybe a light blur on the background along side a desaturation? Not to the point of being over the top $elective color, but enough to make the subject stand out.

I think everyone agrees that there is too much gaussian blur which I am thinking is also the same reason that there seems to be some halo on the left side and rear end of the sheep. Also, the girls foot that is off the ground is blurry...

If you look close, I did desaturate the background. It kinda fades in from the bottom. Didn't want to do full selective color.

For reference this was the original image:

her skin looks a tad yellow to me

Hi. Maybe you blurred the background a bit too much, as others say, but I like it. It makes the main subject (or subjects) stand out and become the inmediate point ot attention. On the other hand, maybe some people will not like the "unrealistic" look.

Cheers.

Would the contest rules allow you to composite her image on to another background?

I'm not sure. The official rules haven't been posted and I can't find my book from last year. I have to think adding elements would not be allowed. I think even the amount of PP I did might be questionable.

Well. Actually, you notice the PP first, then the "subject".
