Was only shooting the 2nd half of this game and only Camden, and it was a 42-0 blowout, so most of the 4th quarter consisted of dive plays. Still, I thought these were decent. Rip 'em up.

I really like number 8. What type of stadium is this? Pretty nice for high school.

it's the georgia dome, where the atlanta falcons play. It was a kickoff type tournament.

Apart from #7 the critical problem is that they are out of focus, shutter speed is too slow to stop the action, backs of heads, no faces, and the action is early or late, missed the peak on some.

Keep at it, try and keep the shutter speeds up.

Yeah, I think that was partly a problem, though I did have to halve the image file size to post them here, and then I think on top of that posting here also makes them less sharp (at least using the method of direct posting the image), so I think that's part of why they look that blurry. They are a bit sharper as originals, though 2 is pretty bad regardless and I actually didn't mean to post it to begin with I just got the file number mixed up with a different photo. For some reason posting here killed the sharpness in 9, which looked very good on my full screen, but looks soft here, meh.

I also found out that Canon's AI Servo mode isn't all it's cracked up to be if you need really sharp images. On nearly all these the focus point was dead on the subject, but the camera simply didn't adjust the focus fast enough. Not blaming the camera really, but I am just used to better performance from the D7000's tracking focus than what I got here with Canon's AI servo on a 7D with a 70-200 2.8 L. I guess I just need to find a better method for focusing live action with that combo, as it is what I'm going to be given for every live event I shoot. I also guess I probably need to shoot in Av so that I can quickly change the aperture for more depth of field as the action comes towards me. I just don't like the exposure choices I get with Av though.

Was definitely a learning experience. The high school was very happy with the images, even if I wasn't thrilled with them, but hopefully they keep getting better.

Some of it will get better with experience if you can shoot more games. Pick your focus and don't always rely on servo to follow for you. I shot a jr football game using a t2i that is really slow, but it came down to timing(I've shot a lot of football) I posted some of them on here a couple of weeks ago. Your camera combination is good, and the light should have been pretty good as well. shooting in a pro stadium. I looked at the image info and it has you at 1000iso and 400th sec, bumping it up to 1250iso or even 1600 and getting a little more speed, 500-640th would help stop the action.
