What's new

C&C if you please?

What sights!!! Nice, very nice.

I'd buy a print of the second one. Awesome shot

#1 just doesn't do anything for me.

#2 I like that one but it would have been much nicer if you had waited for the contrail to be gone. Patience is a very important tool in photography :) And was the foreground snow dirty or is it your PP?

#3 That is also a nice one but a bit of fill flash from the right would be welcome.

Nice work. Some fill light (flash/reflector) for the portrait is really the only thing I can think of that might have been better.

love the contrast between the trees and the mountains in the first one, you can also see where the treeline ends, good stuff!

Thank you all for the comments. Yeah, the snow was a bit dirty and PP did bring it out a bit.

On the first shot I was trying to capture the "cold wind" that was blowing nearly 50 knots where I was standing ~5 miles I'd guess from those peaks.

I agree, that contrail I didn't notice until later but to be fair I had no time to wait if I had as I was in an Avalanch prone zone and the Tahoe police were threatening citation if I stayed :grumpy:

I always keep forgetting something and fill flash is one I need to practice with more. I tend to shoot spontaneously, grab camera and try to capture what my mind perceives as interesting. I need to slow it down a notch I recon and think it out a bit more.

Thank you for the honest (and flattering) critique. Happy New Year to All!

According to my standards they are great photos. Congratulations (and happy new year).

Shoot and learn, shoot and learn, ...

Eventually things become second nature and you won't need to slow down. As far as the avalanche, I would have moved out of the way myself :lmao:

Trever,

Fantastic, and I agree with rez that it could have used a little bit of fill light on the 3rd one, but even that is pretty minor overall. Even that you can adjust if came down to it, but in the end its personal preference!

Gorgeous! I agree about the fill flash on the third but I think you did a fantastic job!

Thanks again!

No HDR, single exposure. 14 bit converted in ViewNX to tiff and edited in CS5.

Nice shots. I recognize Emerald Bay in shot #2... there are a lot of dead trees around there, and I always seem to come back with a picture of one every year.

Next time you're up there, look for the state line fire lookout on the north shore. It's kind of hidden so it's not packed with tourists, but its a nice little hike and there are some stunning views from up there.
