It's a nice reflection but I don't much care for the composition with the water line centered horizontally. I also think the shot would look much better in color.

I didn't see any other way of composing it and getting the complete reflection in without making the horizon the middle. When I get to my home computer I'll post it in color. I personally didn't care for it in color.

Thanks for the Ferris reference...made my day...still in the list of top movies I love...

I agree with KmH, color or bust...for composition...simply crop the top so the tree top is the same distance from the edge of top frame as the bottom edge...capiche?

If the reflection is your intended main subject, you can compose to give the reflection more visual weight by moving the waterline to the upper ROT eye line and cutting off some of the tree tops.

Did you make any shots using a vertical framing, or try a lower camera perspective, or a higher perspective if that could be done at that location.

It's too "busy" for me. When I see black and white with so much going on it becomes more of a texture than a composition. It is hard to focus on the subject. It might be the textures, or the overall lack of contrast in the trees. Nothing really leaps out at me when I look at the picture though.

This is what I started with and why I went to black and white. Not really sure if I was going for the reflection only. I just thought it looked symmetrical. Maybe it's a tosser.

And to follow up, I'm having the moment...that I can only hope is normal.....where I feel like I have no business sharing photos I've taken because they stink :)

^^ Nice work, sometimes you just gotta think outside the box!

for me the b/w looks more in the gray scale side. i do like the color best

Hey now, let's not get negative! If you don't post up, you won't get any C&C to make you better! Everyone started somewhere. Take pride in your photos!

I really like your color edit KMH! I'm behind the majority that the color definitely looks better in this case.
