So I have been interested in the art of photography for a few years and I have finally purchased a camera and am working on basic techniques. Please take a look at the first pic that I edited. I am using LR4.

Well, you've got terrific models doing an outstanding pose for you! That's half the battle, anyway.

On your end, I think you could have framed the shot a little closer, and possibly vertically.

The shot also needs more light, such as fill flash.

Thanks! Since I only have a pop up flash I didn't use it. I'll give it a try.

Nice. A little more exposure would have helped a trifle, but it looks very nice. I would probably crop it in just a little tighter, take 10 percent off the left side of the frame and a little off the top, maybe a hair off the bottom. Pushing them off-center a bit would make this a stronger photo, I think. Try it and see what you think.

There's some strange outlining on the out of focus vehicle in the background, which suggests you might have pushed on a control labeled "sharpen" a little too hard.

When the term "exposure" is used, in this case does it mean a higher ISO? Also I will try cropping it and see if it increases the quality of the shot. Thanks!

"More exposure" just means "more light" which can mean a longer shutter speed, or a larger aperture (SMALLER aperture number). Raising the ISO might be considered "more exposure" as well, although it's not more actual light, it has a similar effect to "more light".

I don't think of it that way, but I think that's just habit.

Noob myself, but I like how the models stand out from the pale background. Was that it that pale in camera, or was that more post-processing?

If you're referring to how light the background is, that was post processing.
