That's how we all learn, by going too far and then backing up. Most of us seem to be of the opinion that unless a change is dramatic then it isn't enough. In reality the opposite is true. Corrections to a photograph should be subtle so as to not change the overall tone of the shot. Don't sweat it, give it another shot but keep it subtle.

If you retouch in layers, you can play with the opacity of them to find a good result. Never retouch the original. The first one looks good, though.

I agree with the other posts. #1 looks good though, I like the editing there.
