C&C Three Street Photos

I am a newbie at this photography lark but I will tell you what I like about your photos and hopefully someone more knowledgeable than me will give you a more technical view.

I like "Contemplation" - especially the way the two figures reflect each other. Not sure if the car isn't a distraction but it is part of the scene. There is a lot going on and I find it an interesting image.

"Deadhead" I like very much - you have caught his character and on my screen exposure looks pretty good.

Can't make up my mind about the last one. I like the angle and the b/w but it just isn't as interesting to me as the others.

I really like that you are experimenting with such different types of scenes which is what I am trying to do and if I had taken these photos, I would be pretty pleased with them also.

I think you're right to be confident about the first. Very, very, very nice, I think. A little texture to fill in the right blown out area wouldn't hurt.

#2 is just there. He looks like that, you got the focus and the right DOF but not nearly as much insight as the first, just not in the same league.
Ditto, sort of #3, looking up at building in the city, lots of PP, voila.

IMO, #1 is really, really good and the clear winner. That's real street shooting - capturing the instant of people, place and light that comes together to mean so much more than the parts.

I hate 'raccoon eyes' (#2), but #1 is quite nice.

I'm not likeing the exposure values in #3. I would have made 2 expsures (sky, buildiing) and merged them. The buildings roof line would have made a merge, or sky replacement, easy, peezy.

Well thanks for the feedback guys, I agree that the first is the best by far. The one of the building was posted cause I felt I captured some really minimalist moody vibes, and because I felt that the b&w processing worked really well. I'm planning on taking advantage of the starkness for some album art for a dubstep EP I've been working on by the way.

Sweet. Don't have to pay royalties when you do your own album cover. Nice photos. Will keep watching for more from you.
