Earlier this month, I returned from a 19-day road trip from Chicago to Calgary and back. This trip covered just under 5,000 miles in 19 days--and was done using an electric vehicle! It was a throwback to my road trips of old...with 12 nights of "Tesla camping" along the way. My twin mattress and Tesla's "camp mode" made sleeping in the climate controlled space nearly as comfortable as sleeping in my own bed.

My initial goal for the trip was to photograph Calgary's architecture. I then added Edmonton to the itinerary. And one can't travel to Calgary without visiting the nearby Canadian Rockies--so I spent three nights in Banff National Park. Of course, there's always a lot to see along the way--such as quirky roadside attractions like the World's Largest Buffalo in Jamestown, North Dakota.

I hope you enjoy viewing these photos half as much as I enjoyed capturing them. As always, they are best viewed on a desktop computer--but I realize most of you will view these through your phone. I appreciate you taking the time to view my photographs. Here's the link to some of my favorite photos from the trip:

Next up, Kansas City, MO! That's happening next week.

Thanks again for looking,
Glenn

Interesting trip with interesting photographs. A little bit of this and that. Casual. I like it.

Something to note: I did not realize at first I could click on the image a second time to make it larger. Maybe you should add a directive somewhere to make it obvious.

Thanks for taking time to view the photographs. Good point about the extra click.

A very nice collection of photos. Great stuff from Calgary which was my home for 30 years. It has lots of photo opportunities downtown. That's where I used to go every time I had a new camera. :) You have an eye for symmetry and for subtle tones. I have driven a similar itinerary a couple of times but did not stop at the North Dakota landmarks. Not many get the spelling of Vermilion right!

Thank you...I had to go back and remove an "L" to get Vermilion right as well!

Man, I stumbled upon your Plaza KC set, and now this! I live in Calgary! From The Plaza, to Calgary, via marriage! ;) These are great shots. There's so much to capture here, without going to the mountains (though there's much there to capture with a camera, as well - and obviously!). Chinatown here is my current haunt - my daughter's artist-in-residence down there with her paintings. I wander the streets that remind me of home back in New York, and fire away. Bowness and Inglewood are other good spots to shoot. Ditto the Bow River. Glad you enjoyed your stay here. All the best!!

It's my home now. Far from my birthplace in Brooklyn, NY!

Thanks again...I stayed in Calgary for three nights during that road trip and was very impressed. I stayed downtown and it was very much a walking city in my opinion. I have visited many large cities in the United States and Canada over the years for photography trips. I've seen many city libraries, city halls, zoos, cathedrals, etc. In my opinion, the library and the zoo in Calgary rank near the top, or possibly at the top, of all the places I've been.
