Camera armor - worth getting?

I'm wondering how much it would get in the way of shooting.

Anyone use one?

I've never owned it... But in opinion I dont see how anything to protect your camera couldn't be worth it. It doesn't look like it gets in the way at all but thats just how I see it. For $35 bucks I'd buy it. And Actually I might just do that.

On some cameras this would be useles as they come from the factory weather sealed. The Nikon D200, D300, D3 come to mind rather quickly.

I looked at it, tried it on my D70, but didn't buy it. Two reasons: (1) Despite the claims, I found that it made a lot of the controls difficult to operate, or it didn't protect them at all (just openings in the armour - what's the point???) and (2) the bottom of the camer was completely unprotected. They may have improved it since then, but IMHO, it wasn't worth the $$

Sorry, on any camera this looks pretty much usless. Weather sealing or not, it protects certain areas and is worthless for others. It does not provide any form of weather sealing. It is a bumper guard. If you are that big a klutz that you need camera armor to protect the corner from a scratch, that lens just ain't gonna make it. :lol:

Yep, at the local camera shop we put it on a Nikon. Even Nikon was happy that it hid the logo. They have a red stripe, not a red body. (The store owner got the red model) :lmao:

Hahha well I guess you should go with him because he's tried it out before... I was just going out of what I saw. But that is true if it's protecting why aren't the buttons protected? hahah. Thank you tirediron.

Go take a look at it and give it a try if you are interested in it. You may like it and there is nothing wrong with that. I just couldn't believe how the camera felt once we put it on. A nice Nikon (Yes I a Cannonaion can appreciate a Nikon) felt totally unwieldy. The red rubber didn't help. Gave it that Play School toy look.

We got one in Red if you want it. That way when you slip on that pebble, throw you Nikon over the cliff and it bounces merrily down the side of the mountain, through the stream and onto a precarious position on a ledge you will easily be able to spot it. You might not be able to reach it, but you can spot it. :mrgreen: :lol:

EEEwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!! You want the lubed or non lubed type, ridges or not? If it were for a Canon I would say buy the Magnums, but since it is for a Nikon the slim fit (small) would probably do. :lmao::lmao::lmao:

I bought it for my camera and I love it, but that could just be me. The reason I bought it was because I was shooting in Africa. The dust in africa is sooo fine and literally everywhere. By the end of one day spent in the bush the thing was covered with dust. I credit the armor for saving my cameras life. It did take a bit to adjust to the feel but once I did I never looked back. For me yes it did gaurd almost all of the dust from getting into the camera. I also have a vertical grip so that protected the bottom. On days when it started to sprinkle my camera remained mostly dry. THIS SAVED MY CAMERA'S LIFE! I would recommend it.
