A man who got lost/stranded on some pack ice on the frozen North Sea was spotted and rescued after he repeatedly used his camera flash as a signaling device. The catch? The flash bursts were spotted by a woman who was hundreds of kilometers away, and watching the sunset on her computer in southern Germany!

Quite literally, a case of "flash to the rescue!"
