Camera Repair Help?

Hi fellow photographers! I have a question I have a Nikon FM10 and the viewfinder seems to be blocked, I have removed the lens and the pulled down the mirror device in the front but when I go to press the button to take a picture it goes black again? What could be wrong? Is there a spring broken? something mechanical? Can someone please help me? If I know what is wrong well maybe I can open up the camera and fix it or order a new piece and replace it thanks guys.

The viewfinder is black because the mirror is up against the bottom of the pentaprism. When you remove the lens the mirror should be down.

No doubt the camera needs repair, but I would recommend you let a qualified repair facility handle that.

I agree with KmH. Get someone who knows what they are doing to sort it out for you. If you try, it could do more damage than good.
