I was at the close end of my lenses focusing ability. I liked the shot composed this way anyways- I wanted the viewer to have to hunt a little bit.

This was before I got my macro lens. I just got a Tokina 100mm f/2.8 last week and it has not been off my camera since.

interesting shot. But as others have said, it would have been a much stronger composition if the subject was larger. Also the shallow DOF of the tree hinders rather then helps.
