What's new

Can someone explain some things to me about close-up lenses?

cool! Will do some research before I order then... the price on the DCR 250 makes it a no-brainer! Thanks for the info.. I appreciate it! :)

Disclaimer: I did not read all of the responses.

Nothing will beat a pure macro lens. However, Canon's Close- lenses ( 250D and 500D ) that screw on the end work pretty well. ( they will work on any brand of lens provided the filter thread is the correct diameter as well as the focal length ) They aren't cheap though. Tubes work well, and can be used for things other than high magnification as well. I would recommend the Kenko set.

Looks pretty good.. thanks, Ron! I am going to try one of these puppies... see what happens! :)

Have a full set of tubes.. just want more! Considered a bellows system.. but not really as portable as I would like, lol!

Here's a few shots i took using a 12mm extension tube, 18-55mm lens and a 350D camera...

Overread, I ordered the DCR-250 on your recommendation.. and am very pleased with it so far. I do like the lens... unbelievable for the price!

I haven't had a chance to get out and actually go bug hunting with it yet... but I did find a friendly little jumper on my front porch that agreed to pose for me. Lighting isn't the greatest.. mildly diffused flash... but this was a quickie.
