can someone help explain the canon line?

hey guys, looking to get a camera for my wife, she's just getting into photography, she keeps telling me she wants a canon rebel. i keep finding all these different model. i'm looking at gettting something off craigslist since its a first camera. what is the dslr slr and all the other canon models? which one would be best to get. most likely taking nature and outdoor shots.

You want DSLR (digital SLR). You dont want an SLR unless thats what she wants (film SLR). Currently they have T1i (500D) or T2i(550D). I would find a used T1i.

They also have older rebels like the Xti and the Xsi I belief??
