Can someone tell me what Im doing wrong?

Actually, if you read lab results on lenses you will find that some brands are best at 5.6 and 8 and some brands are best at 2.8 and 4, if they are fast lenses.

I have lenses that are best at 2.8 and 4 too. Perhaps NJ does as well.
So, he was probably not wrong.

Along the wall, about half a foot in front of him - are those bricks sharper, or is there just an uneven surface? Is there a chance that it is giving you a focus confirmation, but is actually front-focusing? (Is there such a thing with SLRs, or is that just a Rangefinder problem?)

what is front-focusing? The wall was pretty even...

Im guessing its just me...and im focusing and hes moving and is then hes not in focus like he should be.
