I just bought a Canon 16-35mm II f/2.8. I don't have professional focusing tools, but have two methods for determining focus. A ruler and dollar bill, as well as another method I found using a moire pattern on an LCD monitor.
ALL my other lenses, with one odd exception, focus perfectly. The 16-35 benefits from a +6 adjustment on my 5D Mark II and 7D. I don't think it has anything to do with the properties of ultra wide, as my 10-22mm focused well on the 7D, and has a shorter focal length on the 7D than the 16-35.
Should I return my lens (had it for 2 days), have Canon adjust it, or just use the micro adjustment on both bodies?
The odd exception is: My 24-70mm benefits from a -7 micro adjustment on my 7D, but NONE on my 5D! I tested at f/2.8 at 70mm on both cameras. I don't get this one, especially given all my other lenses work just fine on both cameras.
