Canon 400D/Xti Custom Functions

hey guys, im back to the forum after spending a few weeks out haha

anyway, was looking up a couple of things and came across the custom functions thing, maybe i'm being slightly ignorant but didn't know this existed and don't know much about it...

could someone please explain to me C.Fn-2 Long exp. noise reduction...

When the sensor is on for a long time, it heats up, heat creates noise. Also there might be some amp noise where surrounding electronics create (on nikon's) purple magenta spots around the corners and cover a good portion of the frame.

Long exp. noise reduction shoots a picture of the back of your curtain and uses that as a reference to cancel out any noise that you could get in your exposure.

It's generally for exposures longer than a second, yeah? Good to know where it is so you can turn it on if you want.

i think longer than that seeing as all tests are done with like 30
