canon 7d or nikon d300s

I was wondering which of these cameras would produce the best image straight out of the camera without editing?
I am interested in shooting birds and wild life and was looking for a camera and lens that would give me the best results ?
which one does the more accurate job of metering?
which is better at focus tracking and gaining focus?

They both are fantastic cameras! Check out EricD in the nature section he has some outstanding images using the d300s and you can also check out juza he uses the 7d and also has outstanding images. But I think the key is there technique and the lens that they use which are almost double to triple the price of there cameras.
