Canon Digital SLR & (old) FD Lenses?

Hi!

I have an old Canon AV-1 Camera with an FD 50mm and an FD 70-210 (manual focus) lenses. Is there any possibility to "re-use" (mount) these lenses on a digital SLR cameras (like EOS 350D)?

Does anybody has any experiences with this?

When Canon first scrapped the manual focus cameras and FD lenses, in favor of auto focus and EF lenses, they made a few adapters so that pros with lots of FD glass would not be too upset. These are rare and expensive.

There are a few 'non-Canon' FD-EOS adapters around but I've always heard that they don't do a very good job, optically.

Then there is the problem of electronics. The digital camera might have some issues if it's not in communication with the lens. It may be usable but features like metering may be disabled.

The advice I usually hear is that it's not worth the trouble.
