I have a Canon EF 24-85mm USM lens in good working order. That said, seems the rear inner element is showing a bit of fungus. Anybody familiar with this lens and this condition? The glass appears to display tiny snowflake patterns. The lens is in good overall condition otherwise. Hoping someone can tell me how to get rid of it. Or is it too late and too expensive to bother?

You can try and get a quote from a shop to clean it or if you're brave, take it apart and clean it yourself.
It will likely get worse with time.

With respect, it's not in "good condition" with fungus issues. Not a wildly pricey lens so if repair cost exceeds the price of a replacement...

As mentioned above and again with respect. That is a mediocre lens at best and really not worth salvaging in my opinion. However if you like the focal distance etc I would bet you can find a used one in good condition for less than what it would cost to repair yours.

Generally, I can only say that "fixer-upper" lenses and bodies make little sense now that repair services are getting scarcer by the day. KInda broke is broke. Period.
