Canon - EF 28-105mm f/3.5-4.5

ive been doing lots of research looking at reviews on-line and seraching this forum. i have a reble xt with a 50mm and the 18-55mm kit lens. im looking for a new lens i got some money for christmas and ive been looking at the canon 28-105mm f/3.5-4.5. just a couple of questions: is it worth getting if i have a 18-55mm? if not then any suggestions on any other lenses?

my buget is about $200. i would like to go into photography when i get over but right now im just messing around. i like to shoot people, landscapes and some close ups of objects.

i know i could buy some "better" lenses for more money but i dont want to save for like a year. and i dont really need a L series lens(although i would like one!) right no at least.

after looking around i relized that i should up my buget to about $300

there's not a whole lot of lenses in that price range that will be noticeably different from the lenses you have. If you like landscapes then find a nice wide angle lens, but most are priced above $300.
