I have a canon lens that turns the polarizing filter as I adjust manual focus on a canon 35-70mm 1:3.5-4 zoom lens. it's fine when I have time to set up the shot but otherwise it's a pain. Are there many lens that have an internal focus so that it won't affect the filter rotation? I'm thinking about general a buying another purpose lens.

Most FD lenses don't rotate the filter ring when you change focus. The lens you mentioned was a low end zoom that was sold with, I believe, some of the low end T-series cameras like the T-50 & T-60.

I don't think any of the FD prime lenses or any of the FD "one-touch" zooms do this.

I don't think it's internal focusing because the lenses extends while focusing.
No Fd prime lens rotates the filter ring. Get the 50 1.8 Fdn, it's cheap and excellent.
