Photos NOT OK to edit
Hi ! I'm a novice and love this camera. Recently I dropped it and now autofocus does not work. It makes a sound as continously trying to focus but does not take a picture when in AF mode. Very frustrating. What can I do and if I need a new lens can you suggest what the possible costs would be.
Thanks sooooo much

A new lens will cost you anywhere from $170 - Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS II SLR Lens

up to $13,000, depending on what lens you decide to get - Canon EF 600mm f/4L IS II USM Lens

First you should determine if the problem is in the lens or in the camera, but it's most likely just the lens. You might be able to get the lens repaired for less than the cost of a new lens. Impact damage isn't covered by the warranty so any qualified repair shop can do the repair. An independent shop may charge less than Canon.

One way you should be able to do that is by manually focusing the lens and seeing in the viewfinder if the 'focus achieved' indicator lights up. If it does, that means the camera's auto focus module can still detect focus, however it's still possible the electronics that tell the lens auto focus motor which way to turn could have been damaged in the drop
