Canon to nikon lens equivalent?

Thank you very much, one last question, so is the letter G on nikon basically the equivalent to the letter L for canon.

No it isn't. The 'G' on Nikon applies to lenses without an aperture ring - you can only set the aperture through the camera controls. The 'L' on Canon applies to the class (expensive and high quality' of the lens.

since the nikkor 24-70 isn't out yet, the 28-70 f/2.8 would be the equivalent.

k thanks all so to tell if its equivalent basically just look for same focal length and aperture and around same price. oh and switchfx, you should change your picture back to the old one with you looking at the camera with your fingers in the shape of guns. I loved that thing, made me laugh every time.
