Cant upload pictures ? help

Hi! So as some of you know I have recently purchesed a nikon D7000.
I know everyone recomends shooting in RAW not JEPG but I have a problem.
My laptop doesnt support .RAW images only jepg.
(My laptop is a Dell with winodows 7 intel core i7)
If anyone else had this problem and could give me adivce on how to fix it, thanks!

(Do I need to download an editting program and just upload them there?)

Edit: Ive tried getting them on my computer by both putting the SD card right into my computer and also leaving the SD card in my camera and plugging my camera into my computer.

You need a special program to open Raw images and edit them. You can download something (Nef codec maybe) so you can view the Raw files in windows. Raw files aren't images per se. Your camera probably came with software that will let you open/view/edit/convert raw files. ViewNx or something like that. If you didn't get the CD you should be able to download it online.

Just wanted to add that even though you can't actually view the raw images in windows right now you should still be able to copy/upload them to your computer.

And you can view the Raw files with the Nikon View NX application that came with the D7000.

Thank you! I figured it out (I had forgot I download the program it came with earlier! ((got side track with my son lol)) Looked at my manual and we are all good! thank you for the replies <3
