G'day all

One of two bays on Norfolk Island used in 1788 by Capt, Cook on his voyage of discovery to the "Great South Lands". These two bays were in the wind-lee of the island and allowed his men to actually set foot on land reasonably safely. However the climb up the steep cliffs would not have been much fun

As always, feedback welcome

Nice shot.

Wow! A very rugged coastline, and you had exceptional weather for this shot. Beautiful!

G'day Terri

Yeah--Norfolk Island is yet another volcanic plug sticking up from the ocean, so sandy beaches are non-existent. Even today, there is no large-ship wharf for loading / unloading of cargo ... it has to be ship unloaded onto barges and then shipped to a small wharf for further unloading
