Capturing Floridas Skies

Just a few of my older pics of Florida's skies. Nothing fantastic on my part, just natures. The colors are natural, nothing edited or touched. Last pic is of my first lightening strike capture.

When you post more than 1 or 2 images, it would be nice if you would number them. Numbering makes it easier for a reviewer to comment on individual images, rather than having to page back and forth to figure out - "was it the fourth or fifth image..." - you get the idea. While some of these are not that bad, I personally do not comment on any image that I cannot refer to by number or some other simple identifier.

Very serious, but it is your posting and you do what you want. I suspect that there may be others out there who feel like I do and may not bother to comment or tell you why they don't, they just don't comment.

Yes, I thought the same thing, very cool! When I saw the clouds like that and all weird in mango like colors I ran inside and grabbed the camera. That's the first time I've seen the sky that color here, it felt ominous, like a tornado was coming.

I hear ya, it is dark but that's how it looked naturally and I wanted the focus to be on the lightening strike so I didn't edit.

This is so unreal, I can't believe I'm hearing this, it's almost comical. I've yet to see one set of numbered pics on this site. Well, I suspect the rare and few others are just going to have to tough it out, so sorry about that! Have a nice day!

Thanks! Yes, cool colors! Agreed on the thunderstorm roll in thing, when I lived in Ohio and Indiana I've seen the sky on several occasions get all weird and cloudy with different shades of green and the air became still which spooked the heck out of me. I've always heard that that was a sign a tornado might develop but one never did, except for that one day in Texas.

Edit: I'm an amateur at best and it just dawned on me what I'm guessing you actually meant, that it would've looked better if the trees weren't in the way and centered. I get that and the next time I decide to try and capture a strike I'll at least make sure there is nothing blocking the view of the subject matter. Thanks for pointing that out.

My comment wasn't meant to be critical of how you captured the shot, as lightning isn't something you can stage. LOL I've only captured a strike a few times, and they weren't in the most perfect spot in the frame either, leaving me wishing they had been. The only way I know of to get those spectacular shots are to use a trigger, something like this https://www.amazon.com/Opteka-LTX-8...tning+trigger&qid=1555949229&s=gateway&sr=8-8 I've always thought about getting one, but then other toys get priority.

Oh, I know you weren't being super critical but you did make me realize I could've walked to the other side of the palm trees to keep them out of the pic and I thank you for that. You're right, the only person that could know where the lightening is going to strike is the one with the Kmart crystal ball, ha! That trigger is nice, thx for that but I like the thrill and results of capturing it by timing the strikes with the camera on BULB and pointing in the storms general direction.
