Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
Ok my anniversity is coming up and I wanted to get my wife a card reader. Do they make one thats portable? What im looking for is something she can take with her and when her SD card is full you just put it in the reader to save the pics. Then she can re-use the SD card, and when she gets home she can plug in the card reader to the puter and load her pics. Make sense?

Epson P-5000 (or whatever is the latest) -> GREAT display. Doesn't support all RAW formats. Carry extra batteries. Checkout Epson's website for clearance (almost always has some of these for clearance). My P2000 is still chugging along nicely.

Wolverine -> No display. Bargain. There are a bunch of limitations (do a search). Card sticks out, power is short lived, not capable of running off bus power.. etc. It is inexpensive.

Hyperdrive colorspace -> great reviews and highly regarded. I got to play around with one for a short period and thoroughly impressed. Supports a decent amount of raw files. card sticks out. Never owned one although I want to (one of the few that supports all the RAW formats I use).

There's a bunch more out there.... you just have to do some research. Don't forget to read about battery life which is generally shorter than the actual capacity of the unit.

BH has a whole category for them for your reading pleasure:

I bought a 4gb version of one of these back in 2001. . . look at it now. It is a joke. Make sure you think long and hard about how useful it will be and see if it is upgradeable.

Good Luck!
