Cat Trouble

I co-exist with a wonderful cat,lets call him,F. Frederic Skitty (fat freddy's cat for short),to protect the true identity.Anyway,F.F.S. was adopted 2 yrs ago as a 1 year old male.Here's the problem....through casual/clinical observations,it was discovered that F.FS. is actually a female cat.While my wife and I have no issues with her biological sex,we are concerned that raising her as though she were a male might come back to haunt us.We both love this cat dearly,and would never want her subjected to any harm/taunting because we raised her as something she is not.She is an indoor cat,so we're not to worried about outside influences.However,we are concerned that if we adopt another cat,perhaps 1 with street smarts,the "cat" will be out of the bag.
Should we cautiously explain the mistake/lie we've made her live,or continue the life she's become accustomed to?Or,as a last resort,introduce her to a male and a big ol' bag of southwestern catnip?

Don't worry Rat. Cats are far less concerned about gender identity than humans. In fact they often don't realize they're dating another of the same gender until it's time to wed. If you feel the need to explain, then a nice treat, and a bit o' the nip all will be forgiven I'm sure.
