Cathedral Basilica of St Augustine

Originally established in 1565 and the current structure was completed over a period the period 1793-1797. I didn't really do justice to this magnificent structure. By the time we walked to it, the cold and sore feet were taking their toll.

Beautiful building and photos. Very much off subject, but these photos mean you were very close to Osteen's Shrimp Restaurant, did you happen to go? Sorry, but I have a serious weakness for that place. Back on subject, that third photo with the amazing detail of the stained glass is my favorite.

Have some more of the stained glass, it is amazing. I may go back and reshoot when it's warmer and I haven't walked half way round the world. LOL

We haven't been to Osteen's but now that you've mentioned it, think we'll add that one to our list. We were at the Columbia today. First got hooked on them in Ybor City a few years ago. Love their coffee

Everyone's food tastes vary obviously, but I went to St. Augustine roughly 20 years ago fishing and ate at Osteen's and Barnacle Bill's. Loved both restaurants and have been back many times over the years. Sadly, I've been by that cathedral many times as well, but never inside, next time I need to go inside, again beautiful photos.

I've always wanted to visit, but the risk of frozen iguanas dropping out of trees upon visitors is simply too great...



PS- shot of the stained glass was particularly nice- difficult to capture properly!
