I like the setting, but I have to ask, why did you choose such a strong backlight and then underexpose the faces so much? I think with about two stops more exposure on the face, and two less from the backlight, this would have been quite nice. As well there are some strong reflections in his glasses.

Yea definitely agree! Couldn't get the flash in the front to work how i wanted it. (I'm really new with using a flash)

This setup is interesting. You should spend some time figuring out your flash. I'm not a fan of the gentleman's jacket as it is very informal and does not fit the scene.

If nothing else, you could have just used the dreaded auto mode or aperture priority mode and ditched the flash behind. I have to give you kudos for pushing ahead, though. It is a beautiful spot. I also like the pose, although I agree about the brother's jacket. Give it another shot sometime, if possible.

I guess the weird lighting is designed here to hide the sad fact that models have lost their shoes.

There are a number of technical issues and aesthetic issues in this shot. The girl seems a bit out of focus. His leg and foot, the crossed ones, are out of focus. The people appear under-lighted, the background is lighted up pretty heavily. I DO like the props and the setting quite a bit, and think you did the right thing by favoring the background focus a bit. I took a look at it in Lightroom; the file is very small and low-rez, and the detail breaks up very quickly.

There are a few technical issues with this image such as the exposure and the weird no-shoes thing like the people above me have said. But, you know what? I really like it!

The mismatch of bow-tie plus baseball jacket and the no shoes set against the rather upper-class, smokey looking setting create a really interesting scene. It's kind of Addams Family-ish! Whether that was your intention or not, I don't know, but there's a lot of good in this. Yes, their faces should have been lit more, but I can actually forgive that for its fun content

It might even have given me an idea for a shot myself!

If it wasnt for the: OOF girl, the guy's dress and pose, I actually kinda like how it was shot.

It's well staged, has an interesting feel to it, but they just seem so out of place for this. Needs some sort of period clothing and dramatic posing.
