Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
I am really new to photography and would like some C+C on my pictures! I'd like some honest critiquing!! Thanks!

1. This is my first time trying to capture moving water as well as my first time in manual mode. I'm scared of manual but I've decided to overcome my fear and just do it!! I like the way the water looks in some ways but it also looks like something is off. I really wish the tree branch wasn't hanging over the top of the falls - I didn't notice it when I took the picture. I also feel like I should have gotten the very top of the falls.

(Do you need more info than that??)

Not bad for a first try, but you might get a better softness effect with a slightly longer exposure - these are the types of images that a Neutral Density filter was made for. It would also be nice if you could bring out some of the detail in the shadows and the rocks. Here is a lead to a series of articles on photographing water falls. There are four of them and the reference is to the first one. You can get to the next ones by follow the URL link at the bottom of each part of these pages - Waterfalls -- Part I HTH.

Cheers,

Thanks for your help!! I did take a couple more with a longer exposure. Thank you so much for the links! I've only had my camera for about 3 weeks and this was the first time ever using manual. It was hard to take the pictures since I had 3 children (trying to keep them from the edges) and my brother with me! People were constantly jumping from the falls as well! Could I get some more details in the shadows and rocks by post processing it??

The composition is good, but it's underexposed a full stop.

Here is an edit I did;

That was my first thought, it's underexposed. The edit looks great.

Keith - Thank you!!!! That looks magnificent! It actually looks better then it did in person! Can I do this same edit in camera raw?

I used Camera Raw in CS5 and a couple of adjustment layers in Photoshop, based on some masking. For example I selected only the darker water in the pool and used a Vibrance adjustment layer to give it more color.
