Hi, here is a photo I took this weekend. D5200, 50mm 1.8 1/400, manual focus.

Any comments or tips on how to get sharper focus with a manual focus lens are very appreciated! Uploader isn't working for me, so here are links.

I'm just wondering why the manual focus?

The lens doesn't auto focus on my camera body.

(Nikon 50mm f/1.8D AF Nikkor on a D5200)

Sharper focus? Maybe stop the lens down just a bit, to get more in-focus subject matter at such close distances. A little boost to the clarity and or overall contrast, as well as Unsharp Masking, can all serve to increase the apparent sharpness of an image. "Focus" can appear to be better if the contrast is a bit snappier, rather than softer or more-muted.

What I like is the composition. I think there are a couple of post adjustments that would really help this shot. To me the highlights need to be turned down. There is not much separation between the subject and the back ground. Turning down the shadows will help this a lot. The focus is a bit soft but I think it will be ok.

Your PP is definitely over saturated. The yellow is not very kind to the eyes.
