everytime i try to get pics of birds with my 55-250 they never sit still or are too small.

how close were you to this fellow?

Yes it is a challenge birding with this lens. Patience and diligence are a must. As well as an acceptance that the keeper rate wont be very high, because of reach.

Sometimes you get lucky though. I was about 5-6 feet from it. They weren't being very shy that day.

Nice color on the tail #3. When I see these they are always too high.
