People's views on these please.

My son, taken about 18 months ago. Posted them elsewhere, and feedback was interesting. Be interested on views here.

Tight crop was not deliberate approach, I was just chasing him around a small room with a 50mm lens.

These are very nice. The middle one makes me suspect that you're sharpening eyes, though. The eyes definitely "pop" in that one, to a slightly unnatural degree, regardless of how they got that way.

I like the last one best, for some reason. I wish I could put my finger on it, but I can't, I just think it's marvelous. It's something about the crop coinciding with the shadowed side of the face. The "missed" focus seems to be necessary to me, to make it function properly.

Thanks, on the second one I only did a simple B&W conversion and increased the contrast. Absolutely no sharpening of the eyes. He has the most amazing eyes, if they catch the light right, well....

Yes, the third is my favourite too, I think I have stared at it for hours since I took it. Pure luck I have to say.

I like the 2nd and 3rd ones better than the first... there is something a little bit creepy about how much eyes pop out and the expression on his face...

Notice how the eye furthest away from the camera is less focused than the closer eye? If you focus on the inside corner of the furthest eye, both will be in focus.
