I'm tending to #1, maybe more of the cube is visible? Better hand position? Maybe it's just that the edge of the cube is turned, making a subconscious link to the 'cube', without any extra cues?

I agree with #1, it looks more candid, the second one looks a bit posed in my eyes.

I think it's also the fact that the cube is over at an angle, gives that feel of something less planned and more natural. Does anyone think there's insufficient sharp focus across the depth of the cube, or that perhaps there's a little too much movement in the fingers?

And indeed it was utterly unplanned, just happened to have a camera with me in the restaurant.
