Drove over to Choteau Island this morning (38.76303835003753, -90.16628120461895). It's a large artificial island just below the confluence of the Missouri and Mississippi rivers. It was created by the construction of a canal for river traffic. Out in the river's main channel the Corp of Engineers built a rock dam that the river flows over. This dam holds the river level up. Then at the downriver end of the canal they constructed lock #27. Leave the lock and navigation is unobstructed to the gulf of Mexico. First photo below is in the center of the island and the second photo is the rock dam in the main river channel. Fuji X-T4 w/16-55mm
