Christmas lights long exposure?

A neighbor has a really nice Christmas light display that I will be shooting tomorrow night. I'm wondering if I should shoot them with a longer exposure on a tripod with mirror lockup enabled or just go for aperture control. They are very bright lights so I expect I'll get some nice shots.

tripod yes, mirror up no i doubt, longish exposure probably.
