Church in sunset

The closest church near by. This picture was taken a fortnight ago, before the snow arrived. I used Machinery HDR to increase the red in the leaf, and masked in sections from the original pictures in separate sections.

The saturations of the original REALLY weren't working for me. I'm sure the original would make an even nicer B&W

Everything works for me except for the church. The red colors on the church come off looking like Christmas lights to me, and the spire looks comic bookish. I love the light coming through the trees though - I really wouldn't change that.

Maybe desaturate the church features a tad?

I agree with dewey - the desaturated church is much better. Rick58 - I'm not very good with B&W pictures

Agreed, the desaturation of the church is a big improvement, but the blown out highlights coming through the trees still hurts my eyes,..IMHO

Really great shot...very God like and dramatic, desaturation of the church is an improvement.

I like the original; the level of saturation doesn't bother me in the least. My only issue is that it appears as though the church is leaning ever so slightly to the right.

Correct that, and you just may have a wall hanger on your hands...

The good thing the B&W edit has going for it is that the (unappealing) mold/fungus growth on the tree bark doesn't pop out as much as the color version.
