One of the first shots taken using my 7D, purchased in July this year.

I'm using my Canon 17-55m IS as an everyday lens, I have a Canon 50mm prime lens for portraits which I am most interested in and I'm waiting on my Speedlite 430EX II to arrive in the mail any day now :) I'm in the process of discovering RAW shooting too although there is a high amount of noise that I'm trying to work around by adjusting ISO. I may post that query in a different section of this forum.

I've had a Canon 350D since 2005 and haven't ever done it any justice really, it spent most of it's time on green mode at parties and on holidays. With my 7D I've been reading and learning as much as I can as I figure such an expensive hobby should be explored to its fullest.

C&C please :blushing:

The composition in this one is a bit off-looking to me. The bird should be higher in the frame and further to the left, so that he is looking into the empty space rather that out of the frame into mystery sapce. This kind of composition (looking out of the frame) can work in some situations, but I don't think this is one of them.
I'm not usually a fan of selective colouring, but I think you've done a good job here and it doesn't look bad at all.

Makes perfect sense. The bird should be higher yes. My eye was trying to catch the rain in the shot perhaps that's why I didn't shoot lower.
Thank you so much, all noted.
