Did exactly that myself. Especially since the "R zero" has the sensor cover, and Im swapping primes. Also I still have a good collection of big batteries left over from FF Canon SLRs.I guess it all depends what you are after the camera to do for you. I bought my Canon EOS R barely 1 year ago when there were many other options out there like the R8 etc. But the price was so attractive it really was a no brainer and the camera can do everything i want it to do. Newer cameras advertise lots of "New" features but determine if the new features will really make a difference for what you are planning on doing.
A used R zero is about the same $ as a new R8. Clearly a more advanced camera, but nothing about its interface was brought forward to the newer models. It was just too unconventional.
Altho many folks prefer the opposite, I like the blank exterior of the R zero, not cluttered with external dials for features that I dont use ... not even a mode selector dial. Everything hidden !
