I really like the idea, but a couple of things bother me. One is the stuff on the table in the lower left. The other is that there's too much of the cup in the frame - you only need enough to show what it is and since it's out of focus any more is just distracting.

I'd like this better cropped on the bottom just enough to eliminate the stuff on the table and maybe just a little on the right.

I like what you saw mentally ... the previsualization image before you brought the camera up to your eye. KenC has a good point that the OOF cup is too dominating. The straw/stirrer is very distracting and slices through the middle of the frame. Yeah the straw helps frame the two guys and the coffee pot, but it is a two edge sword, it hurts you as much as it helps you. But ... (the big but) ... cropping it up from the bottom to just below the rounded rim of the paper cup reduces the weight of the offending OOF object, eliminates 90% of the table clutter (the remaining 10% is easily cloned away) and retains the straw as a framing element.

While this crop makes, IMO, an improvement upon your image, as a stand alone image this shot will never be very successful as the faces and the actions of the subjects are hidden from view.

thanks. be critical I love it! The subject is the coffee which revolves entirely on the stirrer, it is the reason for the photo I law the line of the stirrer crossing from the coffee cup from the foreground to the coffee pot in the background (really that simple). I also liked the clear divisions of fore mid and background by the edge of the chair and the counter separating them and how the stirrer crossed those divisions. I didn't like the stuff on the table, but I did like the reflection of the daily special chalkboard however looking back there is no way a viewer would know what that reflection is, so it is a detracting from the frame with the table contents (they bother me too) and other reflections. Cropping is limited, it was taking at 4mp jpeg only. Post was a just to warm the frame up and I pulled back the highlights a little as the window in the background was annoying me, but it really is still too bright and washed.

or frivolous. leaned down to pick something up off the floor looked up and thought "isn't that neat how the stirrer in my coffee cup leads right to the coffee pot. Looked at it for a couple seconds and decide shoot, why not?

Yeah, price we pay on our laptops. My desktop shows it all, but it's a 24".
