Color Problems in a Bird Photograph

Hi Everyone,

I went out yesterday to a Department of Natural Resources Site in Central Illinois. Wanted to do some bird photography. I was shooting with a Nikon D810 Camera and a Nikkor 200-500mm lens. Took multiple pictures of a couple of Eastern Bluebirds in a dead tree. As it turns out there is blue coloring on the tips of the tree branches. Is this called Chromatic Aberration?

What has caused this problem and how can it be prevented?

The cause is the lens. Getting a lens that won't do that is impractical however different types of lenses are more or less prone to the problem. Unless you're buying a zoom lens in the 5 figure range your lens will do it.
It's removable in processing most easily processing a raw file. If you have a JPEG with the problem it's harder to deal with.
