Color shift issues

I have been severely frustrated with a problem I have been having in photoshop cs5. I can not figure out for the life of me what to do to make the colors on the web look like the colors in photoshop. How do you fix the color shift? If anyone has the solution please let me know. Thank you so much in advance!

What colourspace are you saving in? The internet is pretty much limited to sRGB only - whilst photoshop can output in several such as adobeRGB.

This is probably a color profile issue.

As I understand it, most (if not all) web browsers don't understand color profiles which means that the best profile to use for images to display on the web is sRGB. Photoshop properly supports a range of profiles such as Adobe RGB and ProPhoto RGB and if you save your image using one of these profiles it will probably look different when viewed using a web browser. To fix it, use the 'Edit / Convert to profile...' option (and convert to sRGB) just before saving your image for the web.

For what it is worth, I have CameraRaw and photoshop set up so I edit in the ProPhoto RGB color space, and then for web display I click on Edit and scrool down to 'Convert to Profile' which I have set to sRGB IEC61966-2.1 in the dialog box.
