Colour or B&W?

Which one do you guys prefer and which one is better in terms of composition?

I prefer the black and white but I would bring the exposure up a bit to gain a little more detail.

I think compositionally, the B&W image is better and more well-executed. Why? It has a bit of shoreline, a substantial foreground of water, and then the jutting pier with the lights on poles that mirror the cloud-line. All in all, the B&W shot shows us a "scene"...a water-scape....from foreground, to mid-ground, to the distance.

The color shot has no foreground....the pier just "begins", and it goes into a small section of water. The strong shadow-line cast by the pier draws the eye and directs it...pretty much right out of the frame.

At first glance, the color image might appeal more when seen small like this in a web-sized JPEG, because of the larger pier, but I am pretty confident that the B&W image is the "better, more well-crafted" composition, and therefore "the better picture".

The black and white is compositionaly better but I think the black and white one in color would be the best. Just my opinion.

B&W is definitely better, knock the exposure up a tad though.
