You know even with the overxposed areas of the neck I like the style of this shot. Colours are vibrant and eye contact is good - looks that the sharp point is also righ on the eye

Thanks, I have a shot that is one stop below this one, but the feather detail disappeared. The sun was very low so there wasn't much I could do about it, except go swimming with it.

yah in those conditions about the only thing you could try is expose for the highlights and try using flash (though for birds chances are you would need a flash extender or better beamer attachment to give the flash more range).
I have been wanting to experiment with a polarizer in harsher lighting, but the sun - its hiding currently
