Before the crash I could view CR2 files as thumbnails in Windows Explorer and now I can't. I was able to do a preview of the CR2 files from Windows Explorer, but not any more!! I am able to open the files in CS5, but it would be nice to actually see the thumbnails so I know what I am opening. Are there codecs I need to download for Win 7?

Here are a couple of screen shots so you know what I am talking about!

Thanks for the help!

I found this...EOS 500D, but it is for 32bit and not 64bit. What I don't understand is that it worked before and I don't remember adding any codecs!?!

And thanks for all you're help KMH. Smart ASS!!

Did you use 64Bit Windows before? Even the US Canon sites only have 32bit codec.

Canon U.S.A. : Support & Drivers : Canon RAW Codec Software

And I use this freeware for image viewing as well as thumbnails browser. You can also take a look at the zoom browser that shipped with your camera.

Yes, when I built this machine about a year ago I installed Windows Home Premium x64 and that's what I reinstalled. I also looked at Canon's site and under select "Operating System" it lists Windows 7 but not 64bit and I downloaded the Faststone Image Viewer and it works fine. Just can't figure out what went wrong!

Thanks for the help!! I'll keep working on it and see if I can figure this out.

I am not sure if they ever release a 64bit version. From the codec reviews, people were asking Canon to release the 64Bit version, so I assume it is not available.

Just to update; the Ardfry 64bit codecs work in windows 7 x64. Much better!!!

Adobe Bridge? If you have CS5, you must have Bridge.

I have Adobe Bridge, but don't use it that much. I guess I'm just old fashioned; do you remember "The Norton Commander:? That's what I started with in DOS and I find Windows Explorer almost as good. I can double click a CR2 file in Windows Explorer and it opens in CS5. I guess that's my "Bridge" if you will.

I need a cup of coffee!!
Thanks for the help!
