Connecticut's First Proper Snow!

I headed out after work yesterday to photograph Tartia Engel's falls, and came up with this:

Then it started to snow, much harder than they had predicted, and I got this:

So then I re-evaluated, packed up, and headed over to Devil's Hopyard to get some snowy landscapes, and came back with these:

Love that first shot.

I might be looking at this wrong but it looks like you're shooting a vertical shot with a ball head, with the camera laid over to get the shot. I started using a L brackets, like a Kirk, which allows you to remount the camera vertically. I have found it a much more stable way of shooting verticals.

My "assets" so to speak are currently tied up in paying off the D800 and Tamron 70-200. So until those are paid, I don't have the $500+ I want to spend on a Really Right Stuff BH40 and L-Bracket.

Trust me, it's in the future, just not yet. Next "small" purchase is a Lee landscape polarizer

Man I hear ya. The L brackets I use are from Pro Media Gear, they work great and were less expensive than the Kirks.

We had our first snow today with heavy winds.
I went outside to take a shot and the shutter froze open j/k
