Not the best picture (hence in this section) but I had absolutely non idea that drab black and white Coots had such weirdly flamboyant and colourful chicks!

I guess it makes them hard to spot in reed banks etc to escape predators.

Yes, not a great shot, hence why I placed it in 'Just for Fun'section - I just had no idea the chicks looked like this.
