thank you, the lighting was good for #1 most of the time I blow out the highlights on the white part of the beak of the cormorant.

The Kingfisher is brilliant! I know exactly how hard it is to catch one of these!

thank you, probably my best so far, as far as getting a close up of them. not that the quality was really up to par, on it, my shutter speed was too slow, and only got a single shot off before he bolted, laughing at me.

they are my nemisis right now. i know where a few stay , but they are hard to get photos of.

Nice shots. I really like the king fisher. This would be a wall hanger if it was mine.

I like the colors in the first one. The robin is tack sharp! I'm with everyone on the King Fisher it's great. I like the composition of it. I do have a question though. Is it my screen or is there a faint halo of blue starting on top of his beak, head and shoulders?

hmm, I guess I see a little bit of that but I cannot tell if its just the background changing around it. I try to look at the original raw files after I get done editing them to make sure I didn't add anything like a halo, and the original seemed to have that same little bit of "glow"

Either way I still like it. It's the kind of composition that I strive to capture. Nothing busy in it and you know exactly what the subject of the image is without anything detracting from it.

They are all really nice!

What shutter speed did you use here?
Was it hard to get the birds in focus?

I agree with the thoughts about the kingfisher--I've been chasing one for weeks now and have yet to get a decent picture. That thing senses even the slightest of movements--actually I think it can sense it when I just *think* about moving a step closer!

I'd be thrilled to come home with a shot like that!

Really nice work, the kingfisher is outstanding with a small fish in its beak
